Yvonne Vendrig was born in Utrecht, Holland. She completed her basic education at the “Het Konservatorium” in Utrecht, followed by the national college for dance and music in Den Haag. Her first engagement was in 1964 at the “Het Nationale Ballet" in Amsterdam where she worked for 12 successful years. During this period, she became the leading role in various plays like “Schwanensee”, “Der Nussknacker”, “Dornröschen” and “Giselle”, as well as many other successful choreographies.

This was followed by a long collaboration with Mr. George Balanchine. During this time, Yvonne Vendrig danced as good as all of his ballet pieces. She travelled around the whole world in cooperation with “Het Nationale Ballet”. Rudolf Nureyev arrived in the "Het Nationale Ballet" in 1969 and became Yvonne’s long-term dance partner, accompanying her for a long time.

After several guest performances at the “Deutsche Oper”, Yvonne decided upon a fixed engagement at the “Deutschen Oper am Rhein” where she danced as a soloist for an excellent Ballet director named Erich Walter. At the end of the seventies, she became a constant guest at the “Komischen Oper” in Berlin and gained the prize of critics in the Former German Republic. Since 1976 she dedicates herself to the formation of young talented students and even today offers daily classical training in the public dance schools as extra support for the self-employed and unemployed dancers. Yvonne was also co-founder of the “Internationalen Ballett Centrums Berlin” in 1980. Since the beginning of the nineties, Yvonne Vendrig is the “Maître de Ballet” for the well-known "MDR Deutsches Fernseh-Ballett" in Berlin.
