KALI SIKARAN is a style used within the IKAEF (International Kali Arnis Escrima Federation). Kali Sikaran has its roots in the Martial Arts of the Philippines and the South East Asian countries. The training concepts of Kali Sikaran are unique and known for their effectiveness in a variety of situations.
The style of Kali Sikaran is practiced in a combination of empty hand training and weapon training, allowing speed, coordination, stamina, strength and reflexes that support self-defense and fighting skills to develop. The Kali Sikaran practitioner is trained to be able to adapt to any given situation. This training is also suitable for beginners as well as advanced. The symbol of the Kali Sikaran is represented by the figure of a bull’s head. The bull was present in the last Hindi empire Majapahit (between 13th and 16th Century) symbolizing strength and power.
The IKSA audit program covers two large areas:
The weapon techniques: single stick (Solo Baston), double stick (Doble Baston), knife (Daga), stick and knife (Espada y Daga)
The non-weapon techniques: Phil. Boxing (Panantukan bzw. Kadena de Mano), Phil. Kick Boxing (Sikaran), Phil. Ringing (Dumog).
Founders of this style: Punong Guro Jeff Espinous (France) and Punong Guro Johan Skalberg (Sweden).
